Most organizations print a corporate brochure relatively infrequently. Sometimes months or even years might pass between one company brochure and the next being designed and printed.

So when it comes to the task of working on your next company brochure there are a few helpful tips that you should consider:

1. Decide on the objective for your company brochure:

This sounds obvious, but a surprising number of organizations decide to get a corporate brochure designed and printed because, erm… well no one really knows.

So take a moment to consider why you are producing your company brochure? Who is the audience; prospect, customer, investor, etc.

Knowing who will read your brochure will help you to define how it should look from the outset. It will also ensure that your brief to your design or print company will benefit from being much clearer.

2. Be clear when requesting a quote for your company brochure:

Beware of the builders syndrome when it comes to pricing up your company brochure. You know where they initially tell you it won’t cost much but as you reach the point where a wall has been removed you discover that there is a small detail that wasn’t discussed in advance that will cause the price of the job to rise dramatically.

A vague design and print request fro you can ensure that you receive a very rough estimate in return. So be clear and precise about what you are after. Make sure that your company brochure design and print estimate is provided to you in writing and clearly specifies factors including how many hours of design are included and which material your brochure will be printed on. Plus of course how it will be finished. Company brochures often include laminating on the cover and techniques including spot and UV varnishing.

3. Ask to see company brochure printed samples:

This may seem obvious, but I bet that most people order their brochures without first taking a look at the quality of brochure printing previously provided by that printer. Don’t fall into this trap because unlike, say, the prior performance of stocks and shares, the track record and quality of previously printed company brochures by a specific printers really will provide you with a great estimate of the way your company brochure will look.

Most of all don’t be afraid to ask questions. No printer who is worth his salt will mind answering them and so if you do find that they are making you feel a bit awkward then avoid that printing company like the plague. If they don’t take customer service seriously, then they probably won’t take the printing of your company brochure seriously either.
Good luck with your brochure.
